China Hitting US With Retaliatory Tariffs On More Than 100 Imports

Some goods will face tariffs as high as 25 percent.

China is hitting the U.S. with retaliatory tariffs on more than 128 imports, following through with threats to do so last month.

Fruit and pork are among the goods subjected to a 15-25 percent tariff starting Monday.

China's State Council Customs Tariff Commission says it's enacting the measures "in order to safeguard China's interests and balance the losses caused by the U.S."

It's a direct response to the U.S. imposing tariffs on up to $60 billion worth of Chinese imports, which China said caused "serious damage" to its interests. China's retaliation will likely escalate fears of a trade war.
